Described as a modern rock alternative, Wait til Friday formed in late 2004 combining influences from 90s alt rock, Brit rock, punk and progressive rock. The new contrast of styles immediately sparked inspiration and creativity in Wait til Friday and soon after, the band was developing a following in the Maryland/D.C. scene. The band’s new style was gaining popularity and even earned them a radio interview and performance in which they were described as "impressive, awesome,(and) the best band so far” on the legendary WHFS morning show’s local spotlight. In early 2005, the band amazed mixer/engineer Steve Augustine (Sugarcult, Lefty, Smartbomb) and his friend, WAMMIE nominated producer Mike Harvey (Mother May I, Myracle Brah, Jonasay, The Hickories) with their attitude-driven performance, songwriting, and unique sound. Harvey offered to produce the band and was a total inspiration to Wait til Friday as they worked together to refine and distinguish the Wait til Friday sound. Later that year, the band recorded their self-titled EP. After a few changes in the the line-up, Wait til Friday was soon earning some well respected gigs. Demos of the recordings earned Wait til Friday opening slots for national acts SEV in Virginia, and Phantom Planet—in front of 700 people at American University. Still wanting to support the band, Steve Augustine offered to mix the new single for the EP, “Perfect Enemy”. In May of 2007, Wait til Friday independently released their self-titled EP, which is available through iTunes, CD Baby, and local record stores. “Perfect Enemy” has received airplay in Maryland, Delaware, and Virginia and was showcased on Uhrev.com and Distortion Radio for an entire month. In August of last year, Wait til Friday was asked to open once more at American University—this time for top 40 artist,The Bravery. That show has since resulted in a multitude of national opener gigs with bands such as Ingram Hill (Hollywood), Ying Yang Twins, Pat Green (BNA), The Redwalls, The Spinto Band, and The Whigs to name a few. The first two songs on the ‘Wait til Friday’ EP, “‘Rebeka’ and ‘Perfect Enemy’ are masterpieces” according to Joel Ney of The Ticker. Chris Steele of 93.5FM WZBH said Wait til Friday is “a band without a gimmick, how refreshing, a real rock band.” 2008 plans include many more gigs and the release of their first full-length album in late summer. With their plans now in order, Wait til Friday hopes to have a great year in 2008.
