AB News

The real GOOD NEWS is that we are three thankful YYYEE HAWWS saved by grace who are able to "kick up a little dust" every once in a while.. The other good news is that we have been chosen to play at the triangle city cantaloupe festival. If you're in the area stop on by the old wagon wheel stage and say "Hey." Stage is located right between the rivers of plenty water fountain and Oliver's snack shed. What an honor it is to play at this festival as we have been trying to get in for a long time

Boy Howdy!! It;s them Altar Billies!

A big YYEEEE! HAAWW!! from three of the biggest YYYEEE! HHAAWs! that ever walked the face of this planet. Johnny, Cowbell, and I are just three God fear'n, country lov'n, church goin', and family hold'n (for lack of a better term), guys from southern California that are just grateful to be play'n in a little rockabilly group. I think we make pretty good music, but ya know, that's subjective too. So if you get a chance, come on over and give us a listen. By the way, I think it is great that Fender is helping to sponsor this site, I play a worn out old Telecaster through a reissue 59 bassman.....together they make a sound and twang that can't be beat.

A lil' someth'n From Them Altar Billies

Do vote, don't vote. vote fer a goat. The Altar Billies are probably not the best sounding or most hip band on this site. However, we are grateful to be playing together, that there is forum such as this to promote our music, and that God is the one the lifts us up  - and that means all of us. So let's set our sites "on heavenly, not earthly things," yet "occupy our time wisely" on earth.  There is a balance, it is not easy to find. But if you are ever in doubt ,about how you're doin' with your priorities, go ask your spouse or best friend - they'll give it to you straight, and remember - "don't corner anything meaner than you" - for obvious reasons

A Word from them Altar Billies!

Vote for us, don't vote for us, vote for kermit the frog - it doesn't matter. Just happy to have a forum such as this to share our music, and to be able to play songs for the Lord in this great little band. We are pretty good, but probably not the best band around, and that's okay, because we are having a Yeeeeee Haawww of a good time, and are 3 thankful guys!....hope to see ya at the next hootenanny!

The challenge for all Christians

Professing and proclaiming our faith boldly and "loudly" to others does create its challenges. We are to live out our lives not only in word but also in deed. If we are going to "preach" his word, then we must live by his word.  Got a Christian sticker on your car, then you better drive good!  If we are witnessing to friends, co workers, and dare I say relatives, then we better walk the walk - we do harm and embarrassment to our faith and the church otherwise. With that said, perhaps it is best, in most circumstances anyway, if we just keep our mouths shut, and focus on our conduct and "work out our faith in fear and trembling." A wise hillbilly once said that "the best sermons are lived out." Hum, maybe he's got someth'n thar!

All of our gifts come from the Lord

Dear everyone,

All of our gifts and abilities come from the Lord. We might write what we believe is the best song, or do the hottest recording ever. We might even sing pretty good and play the geetar as good as Eddie Van Halen - maybe even faster - at least that's what our manager and friends say. Hey, one of us might even "win" this "indie Spotlight" contest, and get all of the "goodies" that come along with it. If we do someth'n pretty good musically, that's okay, but remember, it all belongs and comes from the Lord.

Scriptures reminds us "that all good things come from God." So be encouraged, and never forget where "it" all comes from. We have been given a wonderful opportunity to make music, but is being a servant the more important calling here? Can offering a cup of cold "water" to a stranger make a bigger statement and go a lot further than we think to promote the Good News? If we strive after the wind, can we still take the road less traveled? As artists, do we pick up our crosses, as well as our geetars daily? I confess I fall short. Time to spend more time on my knees pray'n than sing'n? A cowboy once told me that " A little dose of humility can along way." Anyone ready to down a cup with me?

It's them Altar Billies!!

Yes, it's true: "God uses the weak things of the world to confound the wise."  He also uses "Yee Haws" like the Altar Billies to share the Good News of his kingdom with other "yee haws" in the world - nothing personal, just fact. We are grateful that the "Big man" in the sky has brought us together to make music. It "don't" matter whether it's a hootenanny, a hoedown, or a rodeo, The Altar Billies are comfortable playing anywhere, anytime, with a message that will never change. Yup, The Good Lord wants to save our souls, and that's really all that really matters, isn't it? So, while we're wait'n for his return, how about we strike up a little music fer ya'll to dance to?  Couldn't hurt, especially when "It's them Altar Billies."
